Developed in consultation with adults with autism and parents, The Autism Alert card from the National Autistic Society can be carried by a person with autism and enables them to identify their needs in situations where they may find communication difficult.
This could be in a supermarket, a railway station, or with a policeman.
The card is designed to tell people with whom the autistic person comes into contact about the condition, and asks them to show respect and tolerance. The card comes in a wallet which contains a leaflet of key facts about autism and a credit-card style insert whcih can be used to include emergency contact details.
The Autism alert card can be ordered from the online shop on http://www.autism.org.uk
